Activities to do at home
Remember to get permission from your Mum, Dad or a responsible adult before doing any of these activities.
Inside
- Dance baby, dance - put on some music and impersonate your favourite popstars.
- Play sardines - one person hides and everyone else looks for them. When you find them, you have to hide with them - don't be the last sardine out of the can.
- Build a cubby house with cardboard boxes.
- Have a throwing competition - get a cardboard box and throw fluffy toys into it - see how far you can throw!
- Set up an indoor bowling alley down the hall - use empty plastic bottles as pins and a rolled-up pair of socks to knock them down.
Outside
- Challenge Mum or Dad to a race around the outside of the house.
- Play hopscotch.
- Set up a miniature obstacle course and see who can finish it the fastest. Run around the course - or for something different, ride your bike around the course.
- Hill surf - slide down a grassy hill on a cardboard box.
- Teach your dog to catch a frisbee.
- Run a skipping competition - see who can skip the fastest or the longest.
- Collect sticks, rocks, leaves, feathers, petals and anything else you can find and make a picture on the lawn.
- Hit a ball against a wall with your hand or a racket.
- Make up a dance and put a concert on for your friends.
- Walk or run up and down the stairs.
- Help hang clothes on the line (squat down each time you pick something out of the basket).
- Wash the car (use both hands alternately so you give each arm a workout).
- Bath the dog.
- Have a treasure hunt. Hide clues throughout the yard and then follow the directions to find the treasure!
- Hold a puppet show. Hang a towel over a chair or over the clothes-line. Get behind it with your teddies and put on a show and dance.
- Build a cubby house out of branches, cardboard, towels and anything else you can find.
- Put on a concert or circus for your friends, family and pets.
- Put about 10 sticks on the ground like a ladder. Jump in between each stick - make sure you don't touch the sticks. If you land on a stick, you have to remove it from the course. This makes the course harder as you have to jump further between each stick.
- Play mermaids and pirates! Mermaids run from one side of the yard to the other. The pirates stand in the middle and try to stop the mermaids from getting to the other side.
- Hold your own kids-aerobics. Put on some music and create your own exercises. Get some friends together and take it in turns leading the class.
