Activities to do with friends
Try some of the following games with your friends at home, at school or at your local park (don't forget to check with Mum or Dad first):
- Follow the leader - choose a leader then form a line and follow the leader copying what they do (good to do to music).
- Beat the ball - play in a pair. One rolls the ball and the other tries to stop it before it goes out of the area.
- Mirror image - facing one another, with hands up and palms facing each other, one moves their hands while the other copies the actions. Try moving different parts of your body and speed up to see if your parnter can keep up.
- Simon Says - one person calls out directions staring with "Simon says...". If they don't say "Simon says..." the group should not follow the instructions.
- Throw and catch - Face each other and pass and catch a ball. Each time you catch it, take a step away from each other and see how far you can go without dropping the ball.
- Knots - stand in a circle and hold hands with others around the circle (not the person beside you). Try to untangle the circle without letting go of hands.
- Animal movements - pretend to be a seal, snake, tiger, kangaroo or crab and see if others can guess what you are.
- Traffic lights - one person call directions. Green mean move freely around the area, orange means hop, skip or jog on the spot and red means stop and balance until the lights change.
